About
Sound Healer & Ambient Artist
I became an electronic-ambient singer-songwriter over many years, starting with a love of electronic music and subtle sound. Growing up in Sydney, Canberra and Kioloa/Murramarang on the south coast of NSW, I completed a Contemporary Music BA at Southern Cross uni in Lismore way back in 1992. Gradually I began to incorporate field recordings and spoken word to evoke sense of place, include the nature of where I was and to layer people and places who mattered to me into my pieces.
I also began learning and practicing vocal harmonics for sound healing about 25 years ago, feeling that they were a sonic rainbow bridge that healing intent could travel upon. In 2009 I travelled to the US to participate in one of Jonathan Goldman’s 8-day intensives. By then I had been working with Goldman’s seminal book, Healing Sounds, for seven years, and attending workshops and toning nights around Sydney.
Parallel with this I also practiced Perelandra’s co-creative gardening methods and healing processes from 2000, which included Energy Cleansing processes for land/homes. All these things combined within the Pillar of Light process - a way of raising vibration, grounding celestial energy, balancing chakras and experiencing healing group sound (including vocal harmonics on open vowels).
Meanwhile, I studied and worked in bush regeneration, administration and began private music/singing teaching work later. I rotated between all these things. I’ve worked mostly alone and moved around a lot, looking for the right place to call home (our family coastal land was sold in 2005 after being subdivided years before - the Sounds of Homes project is about this).
Despite being limited by a chronic spinal condition I've dedicated my life to the things I felt were most important in life - music, healing, nature and restoration of native areas, combining these wherever possible.
